Dimitri is a young Grim Reaper (Okay, so not so young, he's been reaper-ing for 97 years. But that's young for most of the dead!). He's been working under Taishan, the God of Death, to pay off his sins created as a human being, by helping the fallen archangel (who's paying off his own sins for assisting Lucifer in trying to take over heaven) control death and spirits on earth, the middle realm. When Dimitri's debt is repaid, his soul will be released into Heaven and maybe even Eden (the dead's souls final resting place). Of course, it's not that simple. (To be continued....)

Russell Bretford, senior high school student, orphan heir who's been kicked out of his remaining family and is living on his own, and human assistant to a Grim Reaper! Quite a life, considering the Reaper is Dimitri, who's about as over joyed about having a partner as someone is finding their pet used the bathroom in their sock drawer. (Not fun!) Now, the two are stuck together, courtesy of Taishan, and must learn to work together to work away Dimitri's sins. At first, the Reaper is sure this mess is just for the God's personal amusement, but it seems the fallen archangel may have other motives. Either way, the human and Reaper soon develop a friendship, despite the whole cat-and-dog thing. Soon, the two realize all they can rely on is each other; everyone else just wants them dead. Or at least out of the way, and some will stop at nothing until that goal is accomplished.

Taishan, the God of Death, also known as Ezekiel the Archangel, works in Purgatory (or in other words, a small business room that he can never leave, continually writing down the name of each human as they are born and erasing it when they die, and dealing with the spirits who get stuck on the middle plane; sounds fun, doesn't it?). His Grim Reapers, humans trying to pay off their sins, do most of the field work. Taishan is in the same situation, however, as the archangel Raphael captured him at the fall of Lucifer, and is now making him work for eternity as the God of Death. He isn't evil though and he one of the very few who have realized the trouble broiling in Heaven and Hell, and with his small prophet powers, is trying his best to prevent the fall of the Heavens and the second rise of Satan, supported by the human Antichrist. He later pays for his work, when a unknown Archangel kills him at the end of book two, sending his soul beyond reach into Eden, into the rest he's been seeking for thousands of years.

Fear or Weakness: Russell and Dimitri. As much as he hates them, he fears them a great deal.

Sebastian first appears at the very end of volume one, the now orphan boy of six, who's family Russell murderers to convince Dimitri to kill him. He later turns up in volume two, revealed to be the Grim Reaper Russell's human assistant. Dimitri takes an immediate disliking to the poor boy, though he's unable to explain why. He doesn't completely gain a worthy main character part until book three, where he betrays the now human Dimitri and Russell, and joins the forces of a Satanist community, as their predicted Antichrist. However, his true side is with Lucifer. His main idea for assisting in the second rise of the great fallen angel, is to get revenge on the two young men who killed his family (which is pretty selfish, considering that to destroy Russell and Dimitri, he in turn destroys Heaven, Earth, and the entire human race) and he is given the assistance of Asmodeus, who helps him for a price. He later is taken back in by Russell and Dimitri, at the very final of the book. I really have no idea how they're able to forgive him though.


Character Name: Ginger Helens

Ginger, who starts off the third book as a sacrifice to Lucifer (although it's Asmodeus who comes to pick her up), is a member of a Satanist Cult, though not be choice. Her father is the leader of it and a deep believer in the second rise of Lucifer and his symbol, the Antichrist, and worships both. When told his daughter's innocent blood was needed, he prepared a sacrifice ceremony without a second thought. But before she was killed, Forcas stuck his white haired head in and intervened, sending Ginger, bloody and naked, to Dimitri and Russell's doorstep, involving them in the whole mess. Ginger sides with the two young men, determined to stop her father, despite how much he scares her.


Character Name: Amy (this is a male character, FYI.)

Special Ability: Turning animals into familiars (sources of magic) for humans, finding things that have been lost, and has a large knowledge of astrology.
Fear or Weakness: He doesn't really have one, but if it were anything, it would be the demon Asmodeus. Or his mentor, Forcas.

Amy is one of the fallen angels who assisted Lucifer in his rebellion and later fell to the pits of Hell with him and the rest of his followers. There, he found out that most of them, Amon and Forcas included, had been deceived and lied to. His greatest goal is to return to Heaven and take his place guarding the holy throne of God. All his memories of Heaven are gone though, taken from him by force when he fell. Now he shows up midway (or somewhere in there...) through the third book, when the demons are introduced. He flees Hell soon after though, an illegal act, in both Heaven and Hell, and runs to Earth, seeking the ex-Grim Reapers, who are now quite famous in the underworld. With both the upper plane and the lower plane trying to kill him, he vows to help destroy Asmodeus and prevent the rise of the great fallen angel.

Fear or Weakness: Asmodeus. The origins of this fear are unknown and Amon refuses to tell anyone.

A close friend of Amy, Amon is sent by Forcas to assist the wanted fallen angel and protect him. Amon, while not exactly welcomed by Dimitri and Russell (the apartment they own is only so large you know!) joins their side and seems quite taken with Ginger, who, while kind of scared of him, likes him as well. He has a quiet, well hid fear of the fallen angel Asmodeus, and only he and the said demon know why. That and probably Satan, but he doesn't particularly care. It's rumored to have been rape or some other means of making sure Amon never told anyone what he accidentally knew (due to his prophet powers)  about Asmodeus.


Character Name: Asmodeus
Age: Looks about 20.

Occupation: When human call on his name to sell their souls, they normally want to get revenge, which is Asmodeus's specialty.

Completely faithful servant to Satan, Asmodeus is the active villain against Dimitri, Russell, Ginger, Amy, and Amon. He is the protector of male homosexuals and is an active bisexual himself. He is married to Lilith, original wife of Adam, and 'caretaker' of the Antichrist, whom seems to be his current boy-toy. Only Amon knows the way to kill Asmodeus and he is unable to speak of it.


Character Name: Forcas
Age: Looks about 60-70.

Occupation: Retired. Trains other fallen now. He used to command twenty-nine legions of demons.
Height: About 5'7?

Personality: Enjoys making others feel like idiots. Especially Amy. But he takes care of those he cares for.
Special Ability: Makes humans witty, eloquent, invisible, and live longer, and can discover treasures and recover lost things.
Fear or Weakness: Unknown.

Never actually seen in the story, except at the middle where the demons are introduced and again at the end, where his body is found, he plays a fairly large part, saving Ginger's skin, sending Amy Amon, playing small, behind the scene parts in the war between Heaven and Hell. He was the mentor of both Amy and Amon, along with a great deal of the other fallen angels.
