Literature Text

Oh, bitterness of Cantarella;
Of wine, so fine
You were granted the burden of its cup
To offer it
(And its dark gift)
To those that you deemed worthy
Oh, obey thou,
Demons and angels respect your bidding
But don’t raise more than you can put down
And you’ve raised one too many
Oh, deny it,
Pull closed the curtain
Douse the lights
Darkness won’t conceal forbidden feelings
So transmute red robes to chains to bind
Oh, holy,
Two blond angels, back to back
(Liar, liar, Michelotto with his tainted lover)
Find desperate comfort in each other’s arms
And one friend in the night
To act upon your every whim
(Oh, faithful Volpe, too loyal, or not enough)
But the moth whispers secrets in your ear
How long will it last?
(How long will you last?)
Is there an end in sight,
Or just another mile of maze?
Will the great God in Heaven
Gaze upon your mighty fall
To the embrace of the Devil?
Oh, beautiful Cesare,
With fingers dipped in you family’s blood
And the world so heavy on your shoulders…
Death becomes you so

"From birth, Cesare Borgia is surrounded by hellish shadows that threaten to consume him. Damned by his own father, hated by his closest brother, separated from the sister who loves him, and driven by the demons of Hell itself, he sets out on a quest for power that threatens to set the world of Renaissance Italy ablaze. Will he find salvation in Michelotto, a mysterious assassin bent on saving Cesare's soul -- even if it means slaying his demon-possessed body? Or will all Italy be seduced by the tragic eyes of the infamous murderer known as Cesare Borgia?

Set against the beauty and turbulence of the Renaissance, the story of the infamous Borgias is brought to life by the sensuous art and masterful storytelling skills of internationally renowned manga-ka You Higuri. Combining tragedy, romance, and dark fantasy with a wealth of historically accurate detail, Cantarella is a manga experience like no other!"

Poem © MINE YOU LITTLE SHITS. You steal and enter this, I will personally track you down, hire people to rape you, beat you to near death, then put you in a blender and feed you to your mother. >_o

Okay, that over with, I wrote this for the manga Cantarella's poetry contest. I would like all the feed back I can get, from any and all, bonus points if you've read the manga. If you haven't- go read it. It's pretty damn good.

As for the poem, it's about the main charrie, Cesare. The first version is the long version, the second is the shorter, condensed one, the one that will be entered. (I didn't realize it had a limit of 18 lines. -_-;;)
